10 Beautiful Sunnah’s to Follow on Eid al-Adha

Eid-ul-Adha has always seemed different to me from other Eids. Waking up early on this day, hearing the sound of Takbir in the streets, and seeing people happily preparing for prayer gives me great peace of mind. I feel a strange joy and remembrance of Allah everywhere.

I still remember one Eid morning when I was heading towards the Eid Gah shortly after sunrise. Children were wearing new clothes, adults were hugging each other, and the sounds of “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar” were heard everywhere. At that time, I realized that Eid-ul-Adha is not just about sacrifice. It is also a day to follow the Sunnahs of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Many people focus only on sacrifice, but there are also many beautiful Sunnahs on the day of Eid-ul-Adha that make our day more blessed.

Let’s know the 10 beautiful Sunnahs of Eid-ul-Adha.

1. Waking up early in the morning

Waking up early on the day of Eid is a Sunnah.

Waking up early in the morning and remembering Allah gives peace to the heart. Praying Fajr prayer, reciting the Holy Quran, and thanking Allah is a very good thing.

Waking up early also helps a person to get ready comfortably and does not get disturbed in a hurry.

2. Taking a bath before Eid prayer

Staying clean on the day of Eid is very important.

Taking a bath before Eid prayer is a Sunnah. This makes a person feel fresh and prepares well for worship.

In childhood, our parents also used to tell us that we should take a bath well and get ready on the day of Eid.

3. Wearing good clothes

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to wear good clothes on the day of Eid.

This does not mean that the clothes are very expensive. They should just be clean and good.

It is very happy to see people in beautiful clothes on the day of Eid. Children are especially happy to show off their new clothes.

4. Reciting Takbir

On the day of Eid ul-Adha, one should recite as many Takbirs as possible.

The Takbir is:
“Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, and to Allahu Al-Hamd”

The heart feels very relaxed after hearing these words. The greatness of Allah is expressed everywhere.

5. Not eating anything before Eid prayer

It is Sunnah not to eat anything before Eid prayer on Eid al-Adha.

First, the prayer is offered, then food is eaten after the sacrifice.

This helps us understand the importance of worship.

6. Performing Eid prayer

Performing Eid prayer is a very important Sunnah.

When thousands of Muslims pray together, it is a very beautiful scene. Everyone stands in a row. Rich and poor are all equal.

This reminds us of the unity and brotherhood of Muslims.

7. Using separate routes when going and coming

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to use separate routes when going and coming on Eid days.

This allows more people to meet and everyone gets the joy of Eid.

Sometimes friends and relatives are also found on the way, which increases the joy.

8. Sacrifice with sincerity

The sacrifice is the most important part of Eid-ul-Adha.

It reminds us of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

The intention should be pure while making the sacrifice. Allah sees our hearts and intentions.

9. Treat relatives and friends well

Eid is a day of sharing happiness.

Visit your relatives, wish your friends Eid Mubarak, and forgive if you have any grievances against anyone.

Spending time with your family makes Eid even more beautiful.

10. Take care of the poor

The real joy of Eid is when the poor are also happy.

Distributing the meat of the sacrifice to the poor is a very good thing.

Orphans, widows, and needy people should be helped so that they too can celebrate the joys of Eid.

The real beauty of Eid-ul-Adha

Eid-ul-Adha is not just about wearing new clothes or eating good food. It is a day of obedience to Allah, sacrifice, and following the Sunnah.

When we follow these beautiful Sunnahs, the day of Eid seems even more beautiful.

After many years, people do not remember what they ate or what clothes they wore. But the love, happiness, and beautiful moments spent with their loved ones are always remembered.

On this Eid-ul-Adha, try to follow these Sunnahs and make your Eid more blessed.

May Allah Almighty accept our worship, sacrifice, and prayers. Amen.
