Qurbani Rules in Islam Complete Guide for Eid ul Adha

Qurbani Rules in Islam, A Complete Human Guide

I still remember that morning of Eid al-Adha. The atmosphere was very calm, but there was a strange joy in my heart. Takbirs could be heard from the houses. The children were happy, the adults were busy preparing. It seemed as if the entire neighborhood was getting ready for a special task at once. This is the beauty of sacrifice. It is not just about slaughtering an animal, but also about intention, obedience and sharing with others.

In this blog, I will tell you the principles of sacrifice in very simple words, so that even a child can easily understand.

What is sacrifice in Islam

Sacrifice is also called Udhaya. It is called slaughtering an animal for Allah on the day of Eid al-Adha.

This reminds us of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). He was ready to sacrifice his son on Allah’s command. But Allah sent a ram instead of his son.

This teaches us that obeying Allah is the most important thing.

Who is required to perform Qurbani

Not every Muslim is required to perform Qurbani.

Qurbani is required for those who:

Be a Muslim
Be of age
Be sane
Have wealth that exceeds the Nisab

Nisab means a certain amount of wealth. Like for Zakat.

If someone has money, gold or wealth that exceeds the Nisab, then Qurbani becomes obligatory on him.

Time of Qurbani

The time of Qurbani is very important.

The Qurbani begins after the Eid prayer
And continues until sunset on the 12th of Dhul-Hijjah

If someone performs Qurbani before the prayer, it is not valid.

Therefore, always pray first and then perform Qurbani.

Qurbani Rules

Which animals can be sacrificed

Not every animal can be sacrificed.

The following animals are permissible for sacrifice:

Goat
Sheep
Cow
Buffalo
Camel

They must also be of full age:

A goat or sheep must be at least 1 year old
A cow or buffalo must be at least 2 years old

What condition should the animal be in

The animal must be healthy.

These animals are not suitable for sacrifice:

Blind or one-eyed
Very sick or weak
One whose ear or tail is severely cut
One who cannot walk properly

We should always offer a good and healthy animal for Allah.

Participation in sacrifice

A goat or sheep is for only one person.

But a large animal can have a share:

A cow or buffalo can be shared by 7 people
A camel can also be shared by 7 people

Each person must have the intention of sacrificing.

How to make a sacrifice

The method of making a sacrifice is simple but must be correct:

Be gentle with the animal
Make it lie down comfortably
Recite Bismillah Allahu Akbar
Use a sharp knife
Cut the throat correctly

This process is very important and must be done with respect.

How to distribute the sacrificial meat

It is very important to distribute the sacrificial meat.

Divide it into three parts:

One part for yourself
One part for relatives and friends
One part for the poor

This is the real joy of Eid, that we include others.

Can sacrifice be made on behalf of others

Yes, sacrifice can be made on behalf of others.

You can sacrifice:

For deceased relatives
For parents
For children

This is a good deed and leads to reward.

Common Mistakes

Some mistakes that people make:

Buying sick or weak animals
Sacrificing before prayer
Not making intention
Waste of meat

We should avoid these mistakes.

Importance of sacrifice

Sacrifice is not just for meat.

Neither meat nor blood reaches Allah, but our intention and piety reach us.

Sacrifice teaches us:

Obedience to Allah
Patience
Gratitude
Helping others

Easy tips

Buy the animal first
Sacrifice in a clean place
Take care of cleanliness
Distribute the meat quickly
Teach children too

Finally

Sacrifice is a very beautiful act of worship. It brings us closer to Allah and teaches us to care for others.

When you sacrifice from the heart, it is not just a ritual but a special feeling.

And when you understand it correctly, then every Eid of yours seems more beautiful than the previous one.
